Tight neck or tension? Check this ligament.

In today’s muscle of the day we actually have a ligament and not a muscle. Up today we have the nuchal ligament.   This is a really important ligament and almost every muscle in the neck anchors here and uses it to help get support.   Adhesion in this structure is really common and can cause a ton of neck dysfunction. Specifically in force production in the neck.   This structures easily gets overused in any forward head postures, especially sitting and looking down for long periods of time.   Another important thing about this ligament is that is full of nerve receptors that get feedback all day long from bad posture.   When this happens it leads to the surrounding muscles engaging in what is called protective tension.   So if you are one of those people who always have a tight neck the nuchal ligament might be one of the contributing factors.    Treatment of this ligament is very unique and special, using a special tool the doctor is able to get on the ligament and break down the adhesion.   It is often a bit uncomfortable when getting treated but patients describe a feeling of the head feeling lighter and a lot looser.   Treatment of this structure is absolutely necessary in any type of neck pain, neck tension or even headaches.   Without proper treatment of the ligament many of the muscles will over engage again and lead to adhesion coming back.   Unfortunately there aren't too many doctors out there that specialize in this treatment, but it you are lucky there is one near you.   Real results require expert treatment.   Expert treatment comes with expert training and focus, and unfortunately too many people are allergic to details and lack the commitment to be excellent at their trade.   Good luck.
